Fairhaven - Charles F. Foley, 82, of Fairhaven passed away at home, Thursday, August 19, 2021. He was the husband of Margaret F. (Torres) Foley. Born in New Bedford, son of the late Francis A. and Genowefa (Smalec) Foley, he was a lifelong Fairhaven resident and communicant of St. Mary's Church. Charley graduated from Fairhaven High School and later Bridgewater State College and URI. He taught school at Fairhaven High School for 36 years until his retirement in 1996. Charley was a Board Certified Chaplain at Brigham and Women's Hospital, St. Anne's Hospital and Hawthorne Oncology Center where he was fondly known as Chaplain Charley. He enjoyed reading, writing and gardening. He is survived by his wife Margaret; two sons, Michael F. Foley of New Bedford and Timothy C. Foley (Robin) of Lakeville; three daughters, Colleen M. Heleen (Peter) of Buzzard's Bay, Maureen M. Howard (Sun Kim) of Dartmouth and Tara M. Hurd (Steven) of Acushnet; fourteen grandchildren; twin great grandsons, Elijah Charles and Finn David Steele; a sister, Kathleen Alexander (William) of Weekie Watchi, FL and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7pm in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 10am in St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven. Cremation will follow and interment will be private.
