Suzan (Caswell) Sylvia

New Bedford Suzan (Caswell) Sylvia, age 58, passed away on Monday July 20, 2015 at St. Lukeâ"s Hospital. She was the loving wife of Jeffrey Sylvia and the daughter of Lillian (Moura) and Warren Caswell. Born in New Bedford, Suzan spent all of her life in this area and worked for several years as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Mattapoisett Nursing Home and St. Luke"s Hospital. She loved to be outdoors camping with her family or gardening in the yard. She was also a very skilled cook and bowler. Mrs. Sylvia had many talents and hobbies, but her family is what she held closest to her heart especially her grandchildren. Her family includes her husband, Jeffrey Sylvia, of New Bedford; 2 sons: Nathan Dean and his girlfriend, Kristie Silva, and Nicholas Dean, both of New Bedford; 2 stepsons: Christopher Sylvia and Corey Sylvia, both of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Mya Silva and Reece Dean; 2 sisters: Carol Brizida of New Bedford and the late Cheryl Caswell; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Monday, July 27th from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend. Final Disposition will be private. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or your local animal shelter.
