FHS Guidance Councilor of the Class of 1976

FALL RIVER Cletus J. Malloy, 77, of Palmer St., Fall River, son of the late Dennis and Ellen (Wilkinson) Malloy; and brother of the late Dennis and William Malloy, died Monday, April 20, 2009. An educator, he was a member of the guidance departments of Somerset High School and Fairhaven High School and as Regional Director for the College Board, Princeton, NJ. Professionally recognized for his knowledge of college admissions and psychometrics, his professional life was enhanced by the scholastic success of his students and the positive recognition extended to him by his colleagues in higher education. A graduate of Coyle High School, Taunton, he earned his B. A. degree from Providence College and M.A. degree from Boston University. His avocation was spent as an antique dealer and critic and he was an avid collector of European artifacts, holding his membership in DCOTA and BDC. He is to be remembered as a person who truly appreciated the gift of life and because of his engaging personality he enjoyed a wide circle of friends. He was a member of the Retired Massachusetts Teachers Assn., and the Providence College Alumni Assn. He leaves siblings, Eileen Malloy Gallagher of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Falmouth and Dr. John P. Malloy and his wife, Mary Deane of Fall River; sister-in-law, Jeannette Malloy of Palm Beach, FL; and nieces and nephews, Dennis Malloy, Sarah Crowley, Patrick and Daniel Gallagher, Ellenmarie Rhone, Pamela Cravedi, William Malloy, Maura Bertrand, John, Kevin, Brendan and Patrick Malloy, Kathleen Vanasse and Sheila Obrist. His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary Cathedral at 10 a.m.. Cletus' student, Rev. Mark R. Hession, pastor of Centerville's Our Lady of Victory Parish, Principal Celebrant. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Friday 5 to 8 p.m. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
