NEW BEDFORD Carlton C. Albritton, of Acushnet, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Heather J. Isherwood Albritton with whom he shared 22 years of marriage. Born in Point, Louisiana, the son of the late Woodie and Onie (Henderson) Albritton, he had resided in Acushnet for 57 years. He served in the United States Army and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Albritton was a graduate of Junction City High School in Louisiana, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southern State College in Arkansas and received his Master's degree in Administration from Bridgewater State College. Mr. Albritton began his successful career in education in Fairhaven as a teacher, guidance counselor, vice principal and retired as principal of Fairhaven High School in 1989. He was a member of the Old Colony School and New Building Committee, the Acushnet Elementary Building Needs Committee, the St. Luke's Hospital Nursing Advisory Committee, the MA Teachers and Principals Association, the Fairhaven High School Alumni Association, and was inducted into the Fairhaven High School Hall of Fame booklet dedication. Carlton enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling and the company of his loving family. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Carlton C. Albritton, Jr., Dwayne Albritton and his wife Tricia, Bradford Albritton, Morgan Albritton, Brianne Albritton and the late Lisa Albritton; six grandchildren, Benjamin, Jamison, Abrah, Matthew, Alexander and Abigail; and four great-grandchildren. His funeral service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013, at 10am in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7pm. Burial in River-Side Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carlton's memory may be made to the Fairhaven High School Alumni Association.
