Steven J. Calderbank Sr.

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL — Steven J. Calderbank Sr., 49, died accidentally at his home in Port Charlotte, on July 17, 2008. He was born in New Bedford, Ma., the son of Leonard and Jeanne Calderbank of Ft. Myers, FL. He lived most of his life in Fairhaven. Better known as "Caldy," he graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1976. He was employed as a Correctional Officer at Bridgewater State Prison until his retirement. Despite his move to Florida, he remained an avid fan of his "home teams," the Red Sox and the Patriots. He was known for his gentle heart, contagious laugh, and great sense of humor. He was a family man who will be missed dearly. Steve's survivors include his 3 beloved children: Steven Calderbank Jr., of New Bedford, Sarah Calderbank of Panama City, FL, and Kelly Bonner and her husband, Andrew of Cumberland, RI; 2 grandchildren: Rachael and Jordan Bonner; and 2 siblings: David Calderbank and Patricia Weinberg, both of Ft. Myers. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Steve's memory to the Susan G. Komen Foundation Massachusetts Affiliate, which supports a cause dear to his heart. His memorial service will be celebrated on Sunday, August 24, at 3:30 p.m., at the Long Plain United Methodist Church, 1215 Main St., Acushnet. Published in the Standard-Times on 8/17/2008
