Debra J. (Costa) Baszak

NEW BEDFORD - Debra J. (Costa) Baszak, 49, of New Bedford, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of John B. Baszak, married 27 years; and daughter of Norma (Pimental) Costa of Fairhaven and the late Arthur F. Costa. She was born in New Bedford and lived in Fairhaven prior to returning to New Bedford seven years ago. She graduated from Fairhaven High School and had worked as a Doctor's Assistant at Tobey Hospital. Debra was an avid cook who enjoyed being with her family and friends during holidays and seasonal get-togethers. She touched the lives of many people she came in contact with, especially at Oncology, with her kindness and caring attitude, but mostly her smile. Survivors include her husband and her mother; her son, Ethan Baszak of New Bedford; her brother, Michael Costa and his wife, Harriet of Dartmouth; her mother-in-law, Theresa Baszak of New Bedford; her brother-in-law, Ted Baszak and his wife, Leslie of New Bedford; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Ponte of New Bedford; her three nephews, Alex Costa, Jonathan Ponte and Tim Baszak; and her niece, Jacqueline Baszak. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Coast Home Care Hospice, Attn: Patient/Caregiver Program, 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
