FAIRHAVEN HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1976

Where We Are Now

Lynda Harriman Racine

Hello Classmates! Lynda (Harriman) Racine here. The website staff wanted me to send you an update about what has been happening in my life for the past 32 years or so. I have worked on the insurance industry for the past 30 years and for 15 of those, helped run an agency in Mattapoisett. I decided that it wasn’t something that I wanted to do any longer as it was taking up all my free time to be with my family or to actually take any vacation. For a while I became a part time medical secretary and a waitress at the Frigate Steakhouse in Marion. I have kept that position, in fact, recently I had waited on Ms. Ahlander (Jr. High gym teacher, Staff), and reminisced about old days. I am now back to the insurance biz as I as I had to go where the experience was; as well as the money of course. My husband Andy and I have been married for 20 years and still live in Fairhaven and 4 wonderful children. Sarah, who graduated form New Bedford Voke, is the mother of my beautiful 2 year old grandson Ben, who calls me his Nana Banana. Ben has had some challenges as he is an epileptic and had spent 4 months at Children’s Hospital when he was 5 months old. Sarah takes very good care of Ben. My son, Kyle, had attended Umass but had to put his plans on hold for now. He and his girlfriend currently live with us so they can save some money. My youngest daughter, Andrea, is graduating form Bristol Aggie in June and will be attending Bay Path College to study Psychology; I imagine she will have me committed soon. My youngest son, Luke, is a junior at Fairhaven High school and unfortunately is a Miami Dolphin’s fan which makes his life at home very strained (kidding) as the rest of us, of course are true Patriots fans. So that’s it in a nut shell. I hope to see many of you at the 35th in a few years from now so we can all catch up. Lynda
Update:10/1/08 (Lynda kept her promise of the picture and the Staff wanted this piece to be added to Lynda's Bio as we are proud of her accomplishments.) I have finally found a new photo of me; which is not great, but more up-to-date with aging. These pictures are from my membership in the Order of the Eastern Star and this year I was chosen to be one of the State (Grand) Officers. I have to travel around Massachusetts and inspect other Chapter records and make sure they are doing everything correctly. They call it an honor as there are only 8 of us to cover the State. It is quite a job (unpaid) but a great service to Charity and community. Our organization donated over $7,000 to Muscular Dystrophy this year at the Jerry Lewis telethon; in addition our fundraising this year will go to Juvenile Diabetes and the Shriners Burn Hospital Transportation Fund. The charities are chosen by the head of our State and change yearly. This is a worldwide organization and closely related the Masonic Fraternity (also known as Master Masons). George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, my great-grandfather, grandfather, and dad are/were Master Masons. We wear gowns and tuxedos at most of our meetings. Cortez Allen Chapter is located in Westport at the Noquichoke Lodge and I go there often. We are not secretive and evil as suspected; just historical in nature.
