Linda joined an impressive list of Fairhaven High School graduates who were honored in June of 2003 at the annual Hall of Fame ceremonies. Linda's plaque reads as: Voted the Most Athletic Female in her senior year, Linda capped her athletic career by winning the coveted Mildred Parkinson Tunstal Memorial Trophy which, at the time, was the highest honor bestowed upon a female athlete. Although she was a well-rounded athlete performing impressively in volleyball, field hockey and basketball, her most accomplished sport was track. Her winning jump of 15 feet, 10 inches in the 1976 Division 2 Spring Meet was a school record, but she piled up points in other events as well, including the 220 and medley relay. Over her track career, Linda ran the 100, 220, 440, relay and competed in the long jump. She also ran the 880 and was selected as a member of The Standard-Times' first All-Scholastic Girls Track Team. At the State Championships in her senior year, Linda was presented the Ellery Koch Award for winning the 440-yard dash. In the classroom, she was a three-year member of the Honor Society and was involved in many school projects and activities. (Congratulations -fshc76.com - Staff)
