Jim Mathieu

Upon graduation and great summer at Miles Standish campgrounds with his classmate and friend Butch Demers, they entered the US Coast Guard together. They went separate ways however upon graduation of boot camp. Jim retired 28 years later specializing in weapons systems then grew into staff functions with a focus on congressional relations, policy development, budget formulation, as well as operations both afloat and ashore including command. Jim's final assignment was liaison to the United States Congress. Throughout his career, he continued with his passion for ice hockey and played on the Coast Guard's traveling team. Jim continues to enjoy sailing ever since his days off Sconiticut Neck where he first developed his admiration for the Coast Guard. Jim is founder and president of Mathieu & Associates, L.L.C. specializing in maritime safety, security, and technologies in the maritime domain. Jim and his wife Lori, reside in Virginia with their son James II. Jim's daughter Melissa resides in NH with his grandchildren Sean Kristopher and Patrick James. Jim serves on the board of directors for the Navy League of the United States and the Coast Guard Foundation. Jim also sits on the Industry Advisory Committee for the American Council of Technology, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, and a senior advisor for the Homeland Security Dialogue Forum. Jim volunteers as a nonresident director for the Navy Mutual Aid Association and maintains his support of the Performing Arts.
